Rural Electrification Administration and Act

Rural Electrification Administration (REA), former agency of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture charged with administering loan programs for electrification to our rural communities. The rural electrification lobby is fighting federal cutbacks that subsidize electrical power to middle-category neighborhoods. In fact, the Rural Electrification Act (1936) was one of the foremost important pieces of legislation during the era of of the 30s. During this time, Congress passed the Rural Electrification Act, making the REA's promise of long-term funding for rural electricity a reality.
